Giving Children Hope is an organization with a simple mission: gathering resources and placing them where needed. In the words of the organization itself, “We connect indigenous community leaders in need of resources with grassroots efforts around the world to secure and deliver needed supplies.” They partner with nonprofit organizations and support projects that help children, serve the poor, facilitate family stability, and promote economic independence. Giving Children Hope also works to alleviate the devastation caused by under resourced clinics, hospitals, and orphanages. It has a 4 star rating from Charity Navigator.

You may be wondering where GCHope gets the resources that are distributed around the world by their partners. They receive in-kind donations for items such as clothing, electronics, toys, food, shoes, and books. And for medical supplies, they take excess new medical supplies and equipment that would otherwise end up in landfills and make sure their existence is not wasted. Once received, all of these supplies are available for distribution to GCHope’s nonprofit partners to help the nonprofits achieve their goals. Thousands of volunteers sort through the supplies, categorize them, and check the dates on all the items to assure that everything is working and in top condition before being sent out.

Giving Children Hope has designed several programs for organizations to choose from to find the best fit for their needs. A program we aim to utilize one day at Tanzanian Women and Baby is the Medical Supply Program. Once we are an incorporated nonprofit organization we can download, fill out, and return an application for a container shipment of supplies which can be sent to Berega Hospital and Berega Orphanage. Supplies in the container shipment can include clinical and suture supplies, diapers, dressings, bandages, exam gloves, surgical instruments, oxygen, I.V. supplies, etc. Click here for a complete list.
